Collegium Pharmaceutical Inc., Announces the Launch of Exactacain™
CUMBERLAND, RI—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 26, 2005—Collegium Pharmaceutical, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical product development company announced that its first internally developed product Exactacain™, a topical anesthetic, has been launched with its commercial partner, HEALTHPOINT®, Ltd. a leader in the research, development, and marketing of branded pharmaceuticals for tissue management, dermatology and surgical applications. Exactacain™ and a second topical product are the subject of a Licensing Agreement with HEALTHPOINT that was announced in January 2005. Collegium developed the product, filed a patent application, and is managing the manufacturing at a third party manufacturer. HEALTHPOINT’s marketing team and sales force are responsible for the commercial launch and all subsequent post-launch activities for the product.

This product is the first of a number of products that Collegium expects to launch over the next 12 months. Collegium has products in late stages of development in therapeutic areas such as dermatology and women’s health. Collegium is also investing in the development of in-house aerosol development and filling capabilities at its facility in Cumberland, R.I. to enhance its product development efforts. Collegium’s business model is to develop differentiated, patent protected products with enhanced clinical profiles, take them through “proof of concept” studies and then out-license the products for commercialization to a strategic marketing partner.
