JOB TITLE: Packaging Designer, Topical Product Research and Development
LOCATION: Cumberland, RI

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Collegium Pharmaceutical, Inc., a rapidly growing specialty pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Packaging Designer for our Topical Product Development Group. As a member of our team, you will be working with and learning from experienced pharmaceutical professionals designing and testing new and innovative packaging options for Collegium’s growing topical dermatology and cosmetic pipeline.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related discipline or a B.A. degree or equivalent in art, architecture, industrial design or related discipline with 3 years consumer product package design experience. Aerosol spray packaging design experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop consumer friendly and aesthetically pleasing packaging designs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and manage outside vendors
  • Demonstrated willing to work “hands-on” to test design prototypes
  • Highly effective interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive, innovative problem solving skills
  • Creativity, imagination, and the ability to transform innovative ideas into topical product packaging with well-defined competitive advantages

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with Marketing, develop new aesthetically pleasing and consumer friendly aerosol packaging designs for topical dermatologic and cosmetic products
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key packaging component vendors
  • Identify new packaging vendors
  • Design and execute laboratory testing programs to demonstrate the suitability of new product packaging designs for commercial launch
  • In collaboration with Marketing, test new packaging concepts with consumers to demonstrate their aesthetic and functional accepatibility
  • Communicate packaging development program status, goals and timelines to immediate and/or senior management
  • Assist in the preparation of the packaging portion of 510(k) Pre-market approval documents
  • Assist in the preparation of the packaging portion of Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls (CMC) sections of IND, ANDA and NDA submissions
  • Survey industry literature to identify potential product packaging differentiators and new product packaging opportunities
